017 (2020-2021) Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS)

        Career Guidance Cell informs that the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) released the IBPS PO 2020 Notification for the post of Probationary Officers (PO). The online portal was active from 5th Aug to 26th August 2020. The IBPS PO Preliminary Exam will be conducted on October 3, 10, and 11, while the results will be declared in November. A total of 11 banks Public Sector Banks are participating in the CRP PO/MT-X recruitment. This year there are a total of 1417 vacancies (Revised) have been released for IBPS PO 2020.

IBPS PO 2020: Vacancy Details (Revised)

The number of vacancies under the IBPS PO is given below. There has been a major decline in the no. of vacancies this year. Out of the total 11 banks that are participating in the IBPS 2020 Recruitment, only three banks have notified the vacancies. The vacancy details for the other banks is not reported (NR) as of now.

The IBPS Vacancy has been increased from the earlier vacancy which was 1167.

IBPS PO 2020: Eligibility Criteria

A candidate who wants to appear for the upcoming year’s exam should check that they fulfil the criteria required. Also, consider the age relaxation provided. The Eligibility Criteria for IBPS PO Exam includes the following conditions to be fulfilled:

  1. Nationality- The applicant could be:
    A Citizen of India
    The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
    Tibetan refugee who is permanently settled in India prior to January 1, 1962
    Person of Indian origin who has migrated from either Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zaire, or Zambia with the intention of residing in India permanently.
  2. Academic Qualification-
    An applicant possessing a graduate degree (such as BA, BCom, BSc, B.Tech) from a recognized university. Please note that the degree or marks should be obtained on or before the date(to be issued).
    Also, candidates possessing degree equivalent to the mentioned qualification are also eligible.
  3. Knowledge of Computers-
    As the exams are now conducted online, candidates need to know the basic working of the computer.
  4. Language Proficiency- Verbal and written knowledge of the state/ UT is desirable.
  5. Age Limit- An applicant should be between the age of 20 years but less than 30 years as on August 1, 2020.

IBPS PO 2020: Selection Process

The candidates will be appointed on the basis of their performance in the three stages of the IBPS PO Exam 2020. There are three stages of IBPS PO Exam.

  1. Prelims Exam
  2. Mains Exam
  3. Interview

The candidates will have score a section cut-off as well as an overall cut-off. The selection process requires the qualification of each stage in order to get finally selected. The prelims round is qualifying while the mains exam requires the minimum cut-off marks to appear for the interview round. Interviews will be conducted by the participating organisations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT. The interview round holds 100 marks.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The prelims exam consists of a total of 100 questions with a time duration of 60 minutes. Question type remains Multiple Choice questions. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks in the exam for each wrong answer. This round is only qualifying in nature.

IBPS PO Interview

The interview is the final stage of IBPS PO Exam.

  • Candidates qualifying with good marks in Prelims and mains will finally be appearing for the interview process.
  • The interview round is of 100 marks.
  • The final score is calculated by IBPS with weightage of marks given to the main examination and interview the ratio of 80:20 respectively.

IBPS PO 2020 Salary

Salary holds a lot of importance in the life of an IBPS PO candidate. With high perks and bonuses, a candidate gets lured for the given post. Hence, the payscale, structure of salary, in-hand salary, perks and profile of the job is a piece of important information. The details of the salary are provided:

·         23700 – (980 x 7) – 30560 – (1145 x 2) – 32850 – (1310 x 7) – 42020.

·         It means Basic Salary of IBPS PO after 7 Years – Rs 30,560 Basic Salary of IBPS PO after 7 + 2 Years – Rs 32,850 Basic Salary of IBPS PO after 7 + 2 + 7 Years – Rs 42,020

·         Allowances include Dearness, CCA, HRA, Medical Aid

IBPS PO Cut Off

Cut Off is the minimum marks that is required by any candidate to score in order to be shortlisted to appear for the Interview and thereafter for the final recruitment.

·         Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum cut-off score in each test of IBPS Main examination online and also a minimum total score to be considered to be shortlisted for an interview.

·         Depending on the number of vacancies available, IBPS PO cut-offs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for IBPS interview.

·         The final appointment will be made on the basis of the marks secured in the IBPS PO Mains Exam and th scores obtained in the Interview.

·         Prior to the completion of the IBPS interview process, scores obtained in the online Main examination will not be shared with the candidates shortlisted for the interview.
