001 (2019-2020) Institute of Banking Personnel Selection recruits Probationary Officers

             
              Career Guidance Cell informs that Institute of Banking Personnel Selection  IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2019 for applicants willing to appear in IBPS PO 2019 exam. Candidates must ensure that they satisfy the laid down eligibility conditions before applying for IBPS PO 2019.
  • The minimum eligibility requires a candidate to possess a graduation degree or equivalent from a recognized university as on August 28, 2019.
  • A candidate must have been born on or later than August 02, 1989 and on or earlier than August 1, 1999.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be given upper age relaxation as per reservation norms.
  • Candidates will be allowed to use the services of a scribe and will be permitted a compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour in IBPS PO 2019 Exam.
Read on to know the detailed eligibility criteria regarding age limit, relaxation, nationality, academic qualification, reservation conditions and guidelines for persons with benchmark disabilities (PWD) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Category. 

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2019
The eligibility conditions for the banking exam is based on various factors such as candidate’s nationality, age and educational qualification. Further, candidates seeking reservation under SC/ ST/ OBC / EWS and PwD have to fulfil other eligibility criteria. Merely, satisfying the eligibility to be appointed as Probationary Officer in Nodal banks does not guarantee selection of the candidate. The eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

IBPS PO 2019 Nationality

A candidate must be either -
  1. A Citizen of India or
  2. A Subject of Nepal or
  3. A Subject of Bhutan or
  4. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India prior to January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  5. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Check IBPS PO Exam Centers
Note: Candidates belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) should possess and produce, whenever asked by IBPS, a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

IBPS PO 2019 Age Criteria

Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age as on August 1, 2019. However, age relaxation is provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as mentioned below:

  1. The relaxation in upper age limit to SC/ ST/ OBC candidates is allowed on cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted.
  2. There is no upper age limit relaxation provided to General and Economically Weaker Section Category candidates.
  3. Candidates seeking age relaxation will have to produce supporting documents in original and photocopies at any stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS/ Participating Organisation.
  4. In case, an Ex-servicemen who once joined a Government job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-servicemen for his re-employment, his Ex-servicemen status for the purpose of re-employment in Government recruitment ceases.
  5. There is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in Officers’ Cadre.

IBPS PO 2019 Educational Qualification

A Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Candidate must have passed the qualifying exam on or before August 28, 2019.
  • The date mentioned on marksheet/ scorecard will be considered as the date of passing the degree. 
  • The document proving the fulfillment of educational qualification requirement has to be submitted at the time of interview round.
  • In case, candidate’s result is posted on University’s website and web based certificate is issued then proper certificate in original issued and signed by the appropriate authority of the University indicating the date of passing properly mentioned thereon will be reckoned for verification and further process.
  • Candidates have to clearly specify the percentage obtained in Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals in the online application.
  • Candidates who are awarded CGPA / OGPA have to convert the same into percentage and mention it in online application.
  • Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by Dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semesters/years By aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects multiplied by 100. 
  •  It will be applicable for those Universities as well where Class/ Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only.
  • The fraction of percentage arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

IBPS PO Eligibility for EWS Category

Applicants who are not covered under the existing reservations to Scheduled Castes, Schedule Tribes and Other Backward Classes and whose family has gross annual income less than INR 8 lakhs (Rupees eight lakh only) are to be identified as candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) for the benefil of 10% reservation in the vacancies reported by IBPS.
  • The income will include revenue from all sources such as salary, agriculture, business, profession etc. and it will be the income from financial year previous to the year of application. However, persons whose family has a possession of any of the following assets will not be considered as EWSs, irrespective of their family income:
    • 5 acres of Agricultural Land and above
    • Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above
    • Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities
    • Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities
  • The property owned by a "Family" in different locations would be clubbed while applying the property holding test to determine EWS status.
  • The term "Family" will include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years and also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years.
  • An Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority in the prescribed format will have to be produced to avail the benefit of EWS reservation at the time of document verification and interview round of IBPS PO Selection Process.

IBPS PO Eligibility for PwD Category

Under section 34 of “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”, persons with benchmark disabilities are eligible for Reservation as per government of India norms. The following categories of disabilities can avail reservation under this Act:
  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deaf and hard of hearing
  • locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
  • autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness;
  • multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness in the posts identified for each disabilities
Vacancies reserved for the persons with benchmark disabilities will be allocated as prescribed in the “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016” and as per vacancies reported to IBPS by Participating banks. Read Documents required for IBPS PO 2019

Guidelines for PwD using a Scribe

Candidate with minimum benchmark disability whose writing speed is adversely affected permanently for any reason can use their own scribe at their cost during IBPS PO 2019 Exam. The following rules will apply to use a scribe:
  • Candidates will have to arrange their own scribe at their own cost.
  • The scribe may be from any educational background.
  • Candidate as well as scribe will have to submit a suitable undertaking confirming that the scribe fulfils all the stipulated eligibility criteria for a scribe mentioned above. If, at any stage of the exam, it is found out that the scribe did not fulfil any laid down eligibility criteria or suppressed material facts then the candidature of the applicant will be cancelled, irrespective of the result of the CRP.
  • Candidates using a scribe will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes or otherwise advised for every hour of the examination.
  • The scribe arranged by the candidate should not be a candidate for the online examination under (CRP-PO/MT-IX).
  • If violation of the above is detected at any stage of the process, candidature for CRP of both the candidate and the scribe will be cancelled.
  • Candidates eligible for and who wish to use the services of a scribe in the examination have to apply for the same in the IBPS PO Application Form.
  • Any subsequent request will not be entertained.
  • Only candidates registered for compensatory time will be allowed such concessions since compensatory time given to candidates shall be system based, it will not be possible for the test conducting agency to allow such time if they are not registered for the same.  Check Category-wise Cutoff

Guidelines for Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy Candidates

Candidates with minimum of 40% Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy where dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function will be permitted a compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour or otherwise advised.

Guidelines for Visually Impaired candidates

Candidates who are Visually Impaired suffering from not less than 40% of disability may opt to view the contents of the test (question paper) in magnified font and all such candidates will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour or otherwise advised of examination. The facility of viewing the contents of the test in magnifying font will only be available to Visually Impaired candidates who will not use the services of a Scribe for the examination.

Guidelines for Intellectual Disabled Candidates

Candidates with more than 40% Intellectual Disability, Autism, Specific Learning Disability and Mental Illness will be provided a compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour of examination, irrespective of availing the services of a scribe. 
IBPS PO 2019 Selection Procedure comprises two exams – Prelims and Mains followed by a final round of Interview. However, score of Prelims exam will not be included as it is a qualifying exam for Mains. The final result will be compiled on the basis of score obtained in Mains exam and Interview in the ratio of 80:20 (Mains:Interview).

IBPS PO Preliminary Exam

The Preliminary Examination for IBPS PO 2019 is scheduled to take place on 12, 13, 19 and 20, October 2019.This is the first stage in the IBPS PO Selection Process. It includes an online test consisting of 3 sections- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.

Exam Duration: 1 Hour (60 minutes)
Total Questions: 100 (Quantitative Aptitude – 35 + Logical Reasoning – 35 + English Language – 30) 
Total Marks: 100 marks
Questions Type: MCQs (Multiple Type Questions)
Candidates will be shortlisted for IBPS PO Main Paper only if they qualify Prelims.

IBPS PO Main Exam

IBPS PO Main Examination is also an online examination. IBPS PO Main Exam is scheduled for November 30, 2019. There are 4 sections in the exam- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. 
IBPS has also introduced “Descriptive English” section which has only 2 questions i.e. Essay and Letter Writing. It will carry 25 marks and 30 minutes to attempt the section.
Exam Duration: 1 Hour (60 minutes)
Total Questions: 100 (Quantitative Aptitude – 35 + Logical Reasoning – 35 + English Language – 30)

IBPS PO Main Exam

IBPS PO Main Examination is also an online examination. IBPS PO Main Exam is scheduled for November 30, 2019. There are 4 sections in the exam- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. 
IBPS has also introduced “Descriptive English” section which has only 2 questions i.e. Essay and Letter Writing. It will carry 25 marks and 30 minutes to attempt the section.
Exam Duration: 210 minutes
Total Questions: 157
Total Marks: 225 marks
Questions Type: MCQs (Multiple Type Questions) + Descriptive Questions (English)
The overall difficulty level is higher than Prelims. Candidates must qualify the Mains exam; section – wise and on overall basis to become eligible for the third phase i.e. Interview.

IBPS PO Interview

The interview round for IBPS PO 2019 is the final step in the Selection Procedure. The candidates must attain 40% (35% for reserved category) to finally qualify for IBPS PO. Interviews will be conducted by the participating organizations and nodal banks in each state.
Candidates must access the call letter for IBPS PO from the official website. It will provide information about interview center, time and date.

Documents required for IBPS PO 2019 Interview

Candidates must carry required documents at the time of IBPS PO Interview. They must carry the documents in original and self-attested photocopies. If the candidates are unable to produce the documents at the time of interview, their candidature will be cancelled.
  • Copy of Interview Call Letter
  • Certificate of Experience
  • Proof of Date of Birth (Certificate of Birth issued by the Competent Municipal Authorities or SSLC/ Std. X Certificate with DOB)
  • Copy of system generated online Application Form
  • Photo Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card, Driving License, etc.)
  • Mark Sheets and Certificates of previous qualifications (Result must declared on or before August 13, 2019)
  • Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC category designated by Govt. of India (Candidates under creamy layer or name not displayed under OBC category have to apply under General category only)
  • Candidates working with Government /Public Sector jobs must produce NOC (No Objection Certificate) at the time of interview which must not be in favor of any organization
  • Certificate of eligibility must be issued by Govt. of India in case, the candidate belongs to another country
  • Candidates who want to avail the benefits of age relaxation under the category of Original Jammu & Kashmir residents during the insurgency period from January 01, 1980 to Dec. 31, 1989, must submit a domicile certificate issued by District Jurisdiction or any authorized body of Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir during the interview process. The certificate must specify the place where candidate originally resided from January 01, 1980 to Dec. 31, 1989
  • Disability certificate issued by the District Medical Board in case of PwD candidates (Details of Scribe (if any) must also be specified in the prescribed format)
  • Ex-Servicemen must produce a copy of the Service or Discharge book besides pension payment order and documentary proof of rank previously / currently held at the time of interview (For candidates presently serving in the defence forces, a certificate is required to be submitted issued from a competent authority stating that they are to be relieved from their service on or before August 12, 2019
  • Candidates seeking age relaxation under the category of victims of 1984 riots must produce a certificate issued by District Magistrate stating that the candidate is eligible to receive relief in terms of the Rehabilitation Package for 1984 Riot Affected Persons which is approved by the Government and communicated to Ministry of Finance, Dept. of Financial Services communication No.F.No.9/21/2006-IR dated 27.07.2007

Issuing Authorities for Reserved Category Candidates

The candidates applying and seeking relaxation under various reserved categories such as SC/SC/OBC/PwD are required to obtain the requisite certificates from the authorities designated by Govt. of India.
Certificates issued by any other authority would not be considered valid. The competent authorities for issuance of documents is listed in the table below.

IBPS PO 2019 Provisional Allotment

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of number of vacancies and performance of candidates in the Main examination and Interview. The final score considered for the selection of candidates is based on 80:20 ratio of Main and interview score.
The allotment will be done on the basis of merit cum preference along with fulfilment of eligibility criteria for organizations. Candidates failing to meet the criteria can no longer be the part of selection procedure.
A reserve list is created to the extent of 10% vacancies under each category which depends upon the availability of candidates. The list will expire on March 31, 2020 and the candidates under this category will not be considered for allotment.
Note: All the vacancies comes under All India Cadre and the provisionally allotted candidates could be posted anywhere in India as per the requirement of the participating organizations.
Tie-Breaker Policy – If two or more candidates obtain same score, the candidate who is eldest of all will be preferred.

IBPS PO 2019 Syllabus (Prelims and Main), Exam Pattern and Recommended Books

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has determined the sections that will come in prelims and main exam. However, there is no stipulated official syllabus for IBPS PO Examination 2019. Based on the previous years’ paper analysis, the important subjects and topics are listed in this article.

  • IBPS PO 2019 will be conducted in three phases- Preliminary exam, Main exam and an Interview Round. 
  • Prelims exam will have 100 multiple choice questions from English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.
  • Main Exam will have 155 objective questions on Data Interpretation & Analysis, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy & banking Awareness and English Language.
  • Main Exam also consists of a descriptive paper having 2 questions on Letter and Essay writing.  
  • Candidates who qualify prelims appear in main exam and similarly in interview round. 


Latest Changes in IBPS PO 2019 Syllabus 

IBPS PO Exam Pattern introduced few changes over the years that are to be continued in the upcoming exam as well: 
  • The ‘Computer Aptitude’ section has been clubbed with the Reasoning Ability section. Hence, there will be no separate section for ‘Computer Awareness’ as before.
  • ‘Quantitative Aptitude’ has been renamed as ‘Data Interpretation & Analysis
  • IBPS PO 2019 Syllabus for the Main Examination includes an English descriptive paper which will assess the candidates’ writing skills. There will be 2 questions- Letter Writing and Essay Writing for a total of 25 marks. The time duration allotted would be 30 minutes for this section alone.
  • The Main Examination will now have 157 questions instead of 200 questions.
  • The duration of the Main exam along with the English descriptive paper has been increased to 3 hours 30 minutes.

Note: This is the first stage in IBPS PO Selection Process. Marks scored in Prelims will not be considered while calculating the final merit of the students.   • Eligible candidates can fill the application form through online mode only at the official website of IBPS.
  • Candidates will have to register for the exam, fill the application form, upload documents and pay application fee for IBPS PO 2019.
  • Application fees of INR 600 for General Category candidates and INR 100 for Reserved category must be paid in online mode. ​

IBPS PO Application Form Correction

There is no provision to make any corrections in the IBPS PO Application Form after the final submission.
  • Therefore, it is imperative to be careful while filling the form.
  • Candidates can review their form before the final submission.
  • If you have made a mistake while filling the form, you can apply again by filling another form since IBPS accepts the latest form filled by the candidate.
  • However, the fee submitted earlier will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Candidates will have to make a fresh payment for the new application form.

Retrieving the IBPS PO 2019 Password

Candidates can retrieve the password in case they have forgotten it:
  1. Visit the official website and click on “Click here to apply for CWE PO/ MT-IX
  2. Click on “Forgot Password” on the right side of the screen.
  3. On the new page, enter the Registration Number and registered Mobile Number or Email ID.
  4. Click on “Submit”
  5. The new password will be sent to registered Email ID or Mobile number.
  6. Login with the system with the newly generated password.

Things to Remember

  • After completing the application process for IBPS PO exam, candidate should take a printout of the on-line application form and confirmation page, and retain it along with Registration Number and Password for future reference. They should not send this printout to the IBPS or Participating Banks.
  • All the charges will be accepted in Indian Rupee. If in case the candidate uses non-Indian credit card, the bank will convert the local currency based on current exchange rates.
  • An online application form will not be considered valid without proper passport size photograph and signature uploaded in the online application form or an unsuccessful fee payment.
  • The candidate must be responsible for the information furnished in the application form.
  • In case of multiple applications, the latest complete application will be retained by the conducting authority and the already paid application fee for other IBPS PO Online Applications will stand forfeited.
  • Candidate must upload the documents in the mentioned format and size. They must retain copies of the same photograph as it can be used at various stages of the IBPS PO Selection Process. If the candidate fails to produce the same photograph at any stage, he/she may get disqualified.
  • Order of preference for participating organizations has been inbuilt in the IBPS PO application form. Candidates should indicate their order of preferences at this stage. No requests for change in this connection shall be entertained.
