026 (2017-2018) TAmil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET 2018)

                  Career Guidance Cell informs that TANCET 2018 :Tamil nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University, Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu from candidates who seek admission to 1. M.B.A., 2. M.C.A. and 3. M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. Degree Programmes for the year 2018 – 2019 offered at University Departments, University Colleges of Engineering, Regional Campuses of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges, Arts & Science Colleges and Self-financing Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including standalone Institutions) in Tamil Nadu can be registered only through Online. Some Universities and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges may also opt to admit the candidates on the basis of marks obtained in TANCET 2018. Other State candidates can appear for the entrance test, but the eligibility conditions will be fixed by the admitting authority / University.
Eligibility Criteria for TANCET 2018

All the candidates should have any one of the following educational qualification with 50% marks(45% for reserved candidates.)

1.B.E/B.Tech/B.Arc/B.Pharm/B.Sc(Agri/forestry/Horticulture/fishery).
2.Master's degree in Science/Arts.
3.M.Sc(5years) Integrated Degree.
4.B.Sc(3years) & M.Sc(2years) in Computer Science and IT.
5.M.C.A(3year) after 10+2+3 .
6.M.C.A Lateral (2years) after 10+2+3 year degree in BCA/B.Sc(Computers&IT)
7.Candidates with 10+2+AMIE (OR) 10+3 year diploma+ AMIE .

TANCET 2018 Application Fee

Candidates can apply for more than one course but in such cases, they have to pay for each added course. The payment can be made in a single demand draft for more than one program. The fee structure is summed up in the table below:

TANCET 2018 Application form

TANCET Application form will be available in online its website from last week of January 2018.Candidate are required to fill the application form with right information in required fields. Before filling the application candidate need to pay the application fee through the  Credit/Debit card/ Internet banking. Candidates are also required to upload their scanned images of photo and signature in required format in Online Application form. After successful application submission, candidates have to take printout of the application form for future reference.

TANCET on-line Registration
1.    Visit the website of Anna University i.e. annauniv.edu/
2.    Click on ‘TANCET 2018 Registration’
3.    Enter your Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, and Password
4.    On completion of the above-mentioned registration process, a user ID will be sent to your registered email ID
5.    Log-in with the user id and password in order to fill TANCET 2018 Application Form
6.    Upload a recent colored passport size photograph
7.    Once the form is submitted, the details in the application form cannot be modified or changed
8.    Post submission of the form, an application number will be auto-generated by the system
9.    Save this number and print your filled form

TANCET 2018 Hall ticket

Hall ticket will be available from 1st week of March 2018 .So candidates have to download the hall ticket through online only.Hall Ticket should be produced at the time of Entrance Test and also at the time of Admission. If the hall ticket is lost after the test, a duplicate hall ticket can be obtained on payment of ` 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025, indicating the Registration No. / Application No. and the name of the Examination Centre.

TANCET 2018 Result
Result will be announced  in the 3rd week of May 2017 through online. Candidate may get the result by enter the user ID & password on official website. Mark sheets shall be downloaded from the website by the candidates within 10 days from the date of publication of results of the entrance test. The mark sheet should be produced at the time of admission. If the mark sheet is lost, a duplicate mark sheet can be obtained on payment of ` 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025.
TANCET  Exam Pattern (MBA/MCA)
1. Exam will be conducted in offline mode(paper based exam).
2. Exam will be conducted a total of 100 MCQ type questions in 2hours duration.
3. Each correct question carries 1 mark & 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
TANCET 2018 Exam Center
  • Aspirants can choose one exam center at the time of filling TANCET 2018 Application Form.
  • Details such as the address and the location of the center will be mentioned in the admit card.
  • Candidates may be allotted another exam center other than the one chosen, in case there is no vacancy in the preferred one.

TANCET 2018 Exam Pattern
  • TANCET 2018 is scheduled in March 2018 in offline mode (pen and paper-based).
  • It consists of 100 MCQ questions.
  • The medium of the paper is English.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • Question paper for programs like M.Tech / ME / M.Arch and M.Plan are segregated into 3 sections.
  • Against every correct answer, +1 mark is allotted and for every incorrect answer, -1/5 mark is subtracted. No marks are allotted for un-attempted questions. Aspirants can score a maximum of 100 marks.

TANCET 2018 Cut Off

  • TANCET Cutoff is published on the university website post exam result.
  • The cut off marks will decide if an aspirant is eligible for admission or not.
  • The cut off is given as per the category and program selected.
  • The result or rank list will be prepared on the cut off marks declared by the university.
