The Career Guidance Cell informs that Tamil Nadu
Common Entrance Test TANCET 2016 will be conducted by the
Anna University for admission to post graduate programmes (MBA, MCA &
ME/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan) in the colleges of Tamil Nadu. The applications for TANCET
2016 will be available online and at the coordinating centres. All
the eligible candidates can apply online or register in person at any of the
coordinating centres.
How to apply:
Interested and eligible candidates may apply
online from May 2, 2016.
Application fee:
The general category candidates need to make a
payment of Rs 500/- towards registration fee, while those belonging to
SC/ST/SCA category have to pay Rs 250/-

Online Application for TANCET 2016
To
apply online, the candidates need to visit the official website of Anna
University www.anauniv.edu and click on TANCET 2016 application
source link. Then the applicants should fill the required details in the
application form. After filling in the details, the candidates need to pay the
application fee (via online and submit the duly filled form along with DD and
mandatory certificate copies and photographs to The Secretary, TANCET,
Centre for Entrance Examinations, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025
Offline Application for TANCET 2016
The
offline application forms will be available at the coordinating centres from
where the candidates can purchase them. The candidates will be required to pay
the application fee by cash or demand draft and submit a copy of 10+2+3 year’s
qualification mark sheet. Application fee can be paid through cash or Demand
Draft Drawn in favor of ‘The
Secretary, TANCET, Anna University,’ payable at Chennai,
received from any nationalized bank.

M.Tech./M.Arch./M.E./M.Plan
The question paper
comprises three parts and is of two hours duration. In this paper, the first
and second part is compulsory whereas the candidates are allowed to choose one
section in third part. The third part includes 14 sections of which the
candidates have to choose one based on his/her specialization.

2016 Eligibility
Candidates must have
passed any one of the following Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the relevant
field with a minimum of 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to
reserved category):
- B.Sc.
3 years (Computer Science / Information
Technology) and M.Sc. 2 years (Computer Science / Information
Technology).
- B.E
/ B.Tech. / B.Arch. degree programme.
- B.Pharm.
/ B.Sc (Agri. / Forestry / Horticulture /
Fishery) degree programme.
- M.Sc.
(5 years) Integrated Degree Programme.
- Master’s
Degree in the relevant branch of Science /
Arts, which are prescribed.
- MCA
(3 years) after 3 years bachelor’s degree.

Lateral Entry (2 years) after 3 years degree

The candidates who have qualified GATE 2016 will
be exempted from appearing in the TANCET exam. However, the
candidates having a valid GATE 2016 score in Engineering Science (XE) and Life
Science (XL) papers are required to appear for TANCET 2016.

The paper is of
objective type including 100 questions. Some questions are based on verbal
activity, basic science, etc. each question has four alternate answers of which
one is correct. Every correct response bears 1 mark and there is 0.25 negative
marking for wrong answers.

As per the norms, the score you obtain from attending the
Entrance exam is valid for 1 year. Also, TANCET score is eligible to apply for
Anna university distance education programmes .
