The Career Guidance Cell informs that Union Public
Service Commission Combined Defence Services Exam 2016 (UPSC CDS)
notification released for Combined Defence Services Exam for 457 posts. The
CDS exam will be conducted on February 14, 2016. The exam is conducted
for recruitment to Indian Army, Air Force and Navy. Candidates are
required to apply before December 4, 2015.

for NCC”C” Certificate (Army Wing) holders-200 posts

Eligibility:
Aspirants
are required to note that the age eligibility for different academies which
include Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy, Indian Naval
Academy, Air Force Academy varies. Nationality to appear for the CDS
examination, a candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Bhutan,
Nepal.
A Tibetan
refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962 can apply. Aspirants
are required to note that the age eligibility for different academies which
include Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy, Indian Naval
Academy, Air Force Academy varies.
AGE LIMITS, SEX AND MARITAL STATUS
i) For Indian Military Academy
(IMA): Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1993
and not later than 1st January 1998 only are eligible
ii) For Indian Naval Academy (INA): Unmarried
Male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1993 and not later
than 1st January 1998 only are eligible
iii) For Air Force Academy (AFA) -
Age: 20 to 24
years as on 01st January 2016 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd
January 1993 and not later than 1st January 1998 (Upper age limit for
candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA
(India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January
1991 and not later than 1st January 1998 only are eligible
Note: Candidate
below 25 years of age must be unmarried
iv) For Officers Training Academy
(SSC Course for Men): Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not
earlier than 02nd January 1992 and not later than 01st January 1998 only
are eligible
v) For Officer Training Academy (SSC
Women Non-Technical Course): Unmarried Women, issueless widows who have not
remarried and issueless divorces (in possession of divorce documents) who have
not remarried are eligible
They
should have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1992 and not later
than 1st January 1998 are eligible
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
i) For Indian
Military Academy/Officers’ Training Academy: Degree from a recognized
university or equivalent
ii) For
Indian Naval Academy: Bachelor of Engineering
iii) For
Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University with Physics and
Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering
Graduates
with first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are to submit proof of graduation
provisional certificate on the date of commencement of the SSB interview at the
SSB
For CDS
exam, applicants can be from any stream but for entry to Air Force and Navy,
candidates should have studied physics and maths up to Class 12
Candidates
who are studying in the final year degree course and have yet to pass the final
year degree examination can also apply but they will be required to subject
proof of passing the degree examination to reach the Army Head Quarter/Rtd CDSE

Candidates
appearing at the degree or equivalent examination are also eligible to compete.
Such candidates will be required to submit the proof of passing the requisite
qualifying examination by a date to be specified in the Commission’s Notice for
the Examination.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
Candidates
should be physically fit as per the physical standards for admission to the
Combined Defence Services Examination
Paper pattern
Candidates
will be required to appear for three papers which include English, General
Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. Candidates will be tested on the
basis of their understanding of English and the usage of the words. The subject
code of the English section is (O1). The duration of the exam is 2 hours
and the maximum marks allotted for the examination is 100 marks.

Application Fee: Candidates (excepting
Female /SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required
to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred only) either by depositing the
money in any Branch of SBI by Cash, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/State bank
of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of
Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card

What after UPSC CDS written
examination?
The Union Public
Service Commission will declare a qualified list of candidates (based on the
written exam).
The selected
candidates will appear before a Services Selection Board (SSB) for Intelligence
and Personality Test.
The total maximum
marks for the interview will be 200 for OTA and 300 for IMA, Naval and Air
Force.
Candidates for the
Air Force wing and Naval Aviation will also undergo a Pilot Aptitude Test.
The 5 Days SSB selection process
DAY
1
Candidates are
required to appear for a Picture Perception & Description Test on
along with a round of group discussion. At the end of day one few
candidates are screened out and the remaining will continue their testing
DAY
2
On day two of the SSB
interview, the candidates will be divided into groups of 8-10 and will be given
different chest numbers followed by Psychological tests
DAY
3
The candidates are
required to appear for the personal interviews on day three and four in
front of the interviewing officer. Group testing is usually done on day
three by the group testing officer. All the candidates will be briefed
about the outdoor tests before hand. There are nine tests which have to be
cleared.
DAY
4
The tests on day
four of the SSB interview begins with Individual obstacle race. An
individual is expected to clear a set of 10 obstacles and the total time given
for all the tasks is three minutes.
DAY
5
On day five, the candidates
are required to appear for a conference which will be conducted by the
SSB Board. Candidates will be given a closing address on Day 5 by the deputy
president of the board. Candidates will also be able to clarify their doubts
and queries.
